The Coatesville VA Medical Center to host Welcome Home Veterans Job Fair

(Coatesville, Penna.) – The Coatesville VA Medical Center will host the Welcome Home Veterans Job Fair on Friday, September 5 from 10a.m. to 2p.m. in Building 5, the Great Hall. Veterans of all eras are invited to connect with area employers, including the Department of Veterans Affairs.

“Each year, the Coatesville VA Medical Center hosts a summer celebration to welcome home returning Veterans,” said Acting Director Elizabeth Helsel, “We are hosting a welcome home job fair this year because it provides a real service to the Veterans who fought for us. We believe they should not have to fight for a job when they come home.”

At the fair, attendees can connect with dozens of area employers seeking to hire Veterans including Amtrak, Fed EX, SEPTA, American Federal Savings Bank, Wegmans, and more. Attendees can also meet with hiring managers from various VA service areas including nursing, police, facilities, food and nutrition, environmental management and more; some Veterans can apply for VA jobs noncompetitively. Additionally, attendees can learn more about the VA health care and benefits they have earned through their service.

To maximize the event, attendees should bring, if available, their resume and professional licenses, certificates or college transcripts, DD-214, and VA Service Connected Disability Award Letter. Other items that may be helpful to have on-hand include health insurance and income information.

Veterans and employers with questions can call OEF/OIF/OND Program Manager Audrey Hall at 610-384-7711 extension 2831. The program is presented as a joint effort between the OEF/OIF/OND program, Work Restoration and Human Resources Management Service.

VA medical centers nationwide host Welcome Home Celebrations in order to connect Veterans with the VA health care and benefits they have earned and deserve.
